An unusual and extremely cruel experiment was conducted by members of an international scientific group studying the effectiveness of human self-hypnosis. Scientists selected volunteers who were asked to take a "miracle pill" and keep their hands on a hot stove for cooking.
All participants in the experiment were initially divided into three groups. In the first case, subjects were given a placebo, explaining that it was a pill that had strong pain relieving properties. In the second, the respondents were told that we were talking about a placebo, but the authors of the study also convinced the volunteers that taking this remedy would reduce pain. The representatives of the third group were also given a placebo, but they honestly admitted that the pill did not affect the body in any way. After that, all volunteers, without exception, were asked to put their hands on a hot plate for cooking and keep their hands pressed to its surface for as long as possible. It turned out that participants from the first two groups "fried" their hands much longer than others, which confirms the theory of the effectiveness of auto-suggestion.
